270 Park Avenue’s Hoist Begins Disassembly in Midtown ...

Construction is entering the final stages on 270 Park Avenue, JPMorgan Chase’s 1,389-foot-tall Midtown East headquarters. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 60-story supertall skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees, and will become the tallest structure in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy. Adamson Associates is the architect of record and Gensler is the workplace designer for the project, which occupies a full city block bounded by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.

440 West 36th Street Prepares For Vertical Expansion i...

Construction is progressing on 440 West 36th Street, where a six-story structure is being expanded into an 11-story residential building in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. Designed by Pinnacle Engineering for Chun-Hsiung Huang of the Yards Realty LLC, the project will raise the structure’s height from 68 to 116 feet and revise its residential inventory from 11 units to nine larger homes. New commercial space will also be added to the ground floor. The property features more than 8,000 square feet of buildable air rights and is located on a narrow interior lot between Tenth and Dyer Avenues.

Designed by ODA and developed by Extell, the 1,067-foot-tall structure will span 875,372 square feet and yield an 825-room hotel topped by a public outdoor observation deck with a drop ride attraction in its signature stemlike column. The mixed-use project is also slated to include lower-level retail space, a restaurant on two of the upper floors, a VIP lounge, and a pool deck for hotel guests. SLCE Architects is the architect of record for the development, which is located along Eighth Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets on the border of Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen.
